Why convert M4A to MP3
The iPhone Voice Memos app saves recordings as M4A (AAC). That plays fine on other Apple devices, but some Android phones, Windows apps and older devices or editors don't handle M4A well. Converting to MP3 gives you a file that plays and imports almost anywhere.

How to use it
(1) The output format is already set to MP3 on this page. Drag and drop your M4A file onto the drop zone, or click it to choose one (export a Voice Memo as a file using the Share menu on iPhone). (2) Pick a bitrate (128 / 192 / 256 / 320kbps) — 128kbps is usually enough for voice recordings. (3) Press 'Convert to MP3'; a download button appears once it finishes.
